In 2017, we were the moms, aunts, and friends of some terrific young adults with developmental disabilities, like autism and Down syndrome, who were reaching an age where they were going to leave the educational system and go out into the world. We were committed and we were motivated---and we still are today! We have created an organization in Tempe, AZ that prepares adults with developmental disabilities for integrated, competitive employment opportunities through the provision of individualized support, training, and resourses.
We wanted to ensure that our children, and others like them, have the skills and the support they need to engage, contribute, and become employed in a meaningful way that makes the most of their talents, knowledge, and abilities. We looked around to find a program that would meet these goals and kept coming back to the realization that "we are the change" we wanted to see.
On March 17, 2017, we formed a nonprofit corporation in Arizona called "Pathway to Work." You can learn about our Board of Directors under "Meet the Team."
On December 6, 2017 Pathway to Work received 501(c)(3) Public Charity Status from the Internal Revenue Service and donors can deduct contributions under IRS Sections 170, 2055, 2106 or 2522. Your support and contributions will help us prepare adults with developmental disabilities to engage, contribute and work in their communities.
In July 2018, we began providing services and programs as a qualified vendor for the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities. If you would like us to send you updates regarding our programs and events, send us your contact information using the "Contact Us" tab.
